Gratitude
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِىٓ أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَىَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحًا تَرْضَىٰهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِى فِى ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ ۖ إِنِّى تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّى مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
Transliteration
rabbi awziʿ'nī an ashkura niʿ'mataka allatī anʿamta ʿalayya waʿalā wālidayya wa-an aʿmala ṣāliḥan tarḍāhu wa-aṣliḥ lī fī dhurriyyatī innī tub'tu ilayka wa-innī mina l-mus'limīna
English
My Lord! Inspire me to always be thankful for Your favours which You have blessed me and my parents with, and to do good deeds that please You. And instill righteousness in my offspring. I truly repent to You, and I truly submit to Your Will.
Urdu
اے میرے رب! مجھے توفیق دے کہ میں تیری اس نعمت کا شکر ادا کروں جو تو نے مجھ پر اور میرے والدین پر کی، اور یہ کہ میں ایسا نیک عمل کروں جس سے تو راضی ہو۔ اور میری اولاد میں بھی میرے لیے صلاح پیدا فرما۔ میں یقیناً تیری طرف توبہ کرتا ہوں اور میں یقیناً فرمانبرداروں میں سے ہوں۔

From Qur'an 46:15, this dua asks Allah for lasting gratitude, accepted righteous deeds, and righteousness in one's descendants. It is especially precious because it teaches us to thank Allah not only for ourselves but for our parents as well—honouring the verse's context of kindness to parents.
